| About my Photographic Prints and Process: MATERIALS: Color prints are made with Epson pigment inks on acid free, heavy cotton papers that have a matte surface and a natural base color (not bright white). This combination of quality paper and Epson pigment ink provides for an extremely stable image with a life span exceeding 100 years in normal conditions (from Wilhem Imaging Research). While working with a composition in Photoshop, I print several test prints to check color, contrast, and other details. I often save these prints and usually mark them "AP" for "artist proof." When finishing a print, I typically make two or three in different sizes, and I might alter the coloration or convert to black and white and print another. It is rare for me to print more than two or three of a final composition, and I do not number them. Mass marketing is not my business. On occasion, I will make limited editions and number them, e.g. 1/5 (edition of 5) or 1/1 (one of a kind). Loose Prints are most often corner mounted to acid free support material, like acid free foamcore, and enclosed in clear, sealed, acid free sleeves; they are not matted. When shipped, they are flat with envelope stiffeners for protection. | |
| Framed Prints: Frames are most often black wood. Mats are usually a touch off-white and are always 100% cotton, acid free. Mat boarders are usually about 3 inches. Glass is protective UV (ultraviolet filtering). Pick up is suggested for prints framed with glass, but they can be shipped. UV acrylic can be used instead of glass, for a surcharge of about $45 and added wait time. A few framing samples are shown below. |
